Fishing at the Plahte Estate

Four watercourses consisting of rivers and lakes in unpolluted environments. Enjoy  fishing in healthy populations.  Drink water from rivers and brooks, breathe fresh air and experience summer nights that never get dark.

Each watercourse is unique. Together they offer fishing ranging from sea trout  and wild salmon in the lowlands, to high quality mountain trouts. Some lakes hold arctic char. The cabin is carefully placed by the best spot of each river, providing  large areas of exclusive fishing far from other people.

We neither run a hotel nor a large camping site. Upon arrival you will receive a key to the cabin located in the area you have chosen, and thereafter be free to enjoy your stay as you like. We will, however, be happy to give you whatever help and advice you would wish for and can also supply guiding.

The "Eide" watercourse

The Eide watercourse is about 25 km long and covers about 100 Km² . The anadromous part is about 14 km  and holds sea trout, wild Atlantic salmon and some anadromous arctic char.  We have four cabins in the watercourse, located several kilometers apart.

The Eide watercourse consists of several large lakes connected by shorter rivers. At the lower end river, next to the fjord, you will find Sagmestereidet, mainly enjoyed for fishing sea-trout and salmon.  Approximately 4 km further up, by another connecting river, you will find Øvereidet, also offering good sea-trout and salmon fishing.   The cabins Kalbekkvika and Sørengvatn are at the inner part of the watercourse. These cabins offer mainly trout fishing in the lowlands as well as in the mountains. It is, however, possible to fish for all species from any of these four cabins, in rivers and lakes.

The "Urvold" watercourse

The Urvold watercourse is about 15 km long and covers about 60 km²  The anadromous part is about 3 km, with sea trout, wild salmon and anadromous arctic char. A large part of the river bed is limestone, making the water extremely clear. The anadromous part of the watercourse consists of a short river, a 2 km long lake and the 1 km long upper river. Most of the fish is caught in the lake, which is  considered  to be the best sea trout lake in the region. Fishing in the upper river is fun, but challenging due to the clear water. At the lower end, next to the fjord, we offer Ureidet, a simple cabin for up to 4 people. At the upper end, next to the inlet river, you find the cabin Urvold. These two cabins are roughly 3 km apart and the only ones in the area..

The "Åbjøra" watercourse

The Åbjøra watercourse is altogether about  60 km long and covers an area of more than 600 km² . About 450 km²  is on our estate. The anadromous part is about 25km with Atlantic salmon and sea trout. The lower part is owned by several smaller estates. At Åbjørvatnet you will find Granbostad. By crossing the 4 km long lake, you reach  a small cabin at Åbjørneset and a large one at Åbjørstua. The cabins Kalvkru and Kalvvatn are located even further up the watercourse. A dirt road runs to the innermost part of the watercourse A salmon ladder was built in 2001, making the lower 7 km of the river upstream of Åbjørvatn available for sea trout and salmon. It is also possible to fish for trout in several good mountain lakes.

Kalvkru	T	Medium std. 4 beds 40 m2	2 hrs' walk+ boat	Mountain area with good mountain trout fishing. Probably as far as you can get away from civilization on our estate. The cabin is located next to our very best trout lake.
Kalvvatn	T	Low std. 4-6 beds 20 m2	Car+ 5meters' walking	Mountain area of about 120 km2  with good mountain trout fishing. Several fishing lakes and streams. The cabin  is located next to a water reservoir and there is a high power voltage line in the area. Otherwise most of the area is wilderness.

The "Terråk" watercourse

The Terråk watercourse  is about 20 km long and covers 80 km² . The anadromous part is about 1 km with sea trout and wild salmon. The watercourse consists of the main  river, smaller rivers and 4 lakes. There is mountain trout in the entire watercourse.

We have only one cabin in this area, placed by one of the beautiful lakes for good mountain trout fishing. Hiking downstreams takes you to  sea trout and salmon fishing. The anadromous fishing is more dependent on percipitation than in the rivers at Eide, Urvold and Åbjøra. The locals are allowed to fish in the area, but it is never "crowded". Most of the time  you will have the area all to yourself.
